Déjà Vu
Déjà Vu
Who?
Back again, you.
With that familiar laugh
And the vacuum of silence following,
Smile fading to confusion.
Just a memory drifting out of sight:
A snowflake,
Or dandelion plumes evading
The grasp of curious hands.
I fight to understand
Where my place in life begins,
And if these feelings always pass--
Are they of substance?
As if I were chasing a runaway train,
Fate is a dream, beyond the horizon,
Or a flash of light in the corner of my eye,
I find I'm back to déjà vu.
I ponder still. I go outside in the cold,
The middle of idle winter nights,
Will I find my place in life?
Losing track of wasted time...
As I begin to reminisce
On the spirited bliss of angels,
Childhood fables that I miss,
Life ceases to pass me by,
I find I catch a fleeting glimpse,
In the side of my vision--
You,
Back again.
Who?
This time I'm determined to know.
Who?
Back again, you.
With that familiar laugh
And the vacuum of silence following,
Smile fading to confusion.
Just a memory drifting out of sight:
A snowflake,
Or dandelion plumes evading
The grasp of curious hands.
I fight to understand
Where my place in life begins,
And if these feelings always pass--
Are they of substance?
As if I were chasing a runaway train,
Fate is a dream, beyond the horizon,
Or a flash of light in the corner of my eye,
I find I'm back to déjà vu.
I ponder still. I go outside in the cold,
The middle of idle winter nights,
Will I find my place in life?
Losing track of wasted time...
As I begin to reminisce
On the spirited bliss of angels,
Childhood fables that I miss,

I find I catch a fleeting glimpse,
In the side of my vision--
You,
Back again.
Who?
This time I'm determined to know.
