Hooked on a Dream

Forever trapped within a dream,
Acting like you know it means
You well, but if you must see
The proof before you breathe
Our world is just as full of masks,
Facades, cheats, and empty laughs
As it is with wonder’s gaff.
While our blunders come to pass,
Some will never understand
The action that you must command
In order to ignore their plans
For you to take a place they can’t.

For if you don’t want to be
A statue in the image of another beast,
Life has lessons left to teach;
Her speculation sets you free.

Wealth

This excerpt reflects on something I've been thinking about almost every day of my life since I turned 18 and faced the idea of adult responsibility over money and material possessions. The transition to adulthood also carries with it the heavy burden of self maintenance, let alone enrichment, which usually falls behind our other commitments. Without further ado: Wealth Being wealthy is a matter of perspective— I’ve come to know a kind of wealth that has nothing to do with a bank account or physical assets.
