Growth

What is growth anyway? What if growth means growing away from the emphasis on age and wisdom being so tightly correlated? What if it means growing apart from society, everyone and everything I hold dear? What if it means I’ve grown out of Alexander David Samra and I’m ready for something else? Maybe it’s time.

I’m more a collection of dreams, ideas and beliefs than man, and only now do I truly understand that Alexander Samra was never a tangible being to start with. There’s only me. Facades grow old as the seasons change, my human form will age with time, and people tire of that story. My mental form will only grow in experience and wisdom, for there is neither age nor proper definition for the priceless ichor of cognition: consciousness. Though with the same readiness that enemies and fools will jump to claim I’ve lost my mind I will continually rediscover what it really means to exist. What it means to breathe, to fight, to struggle, to survive. To love, hate, live and die trying. The first part of my life was spent pretending the embodiment of my birth persona was my life’s ultimate goal, but because Alex is someone my parents wanted me to be, raised me to be, that label can never truly define who or what I am. Now, I must realize that name is inherently meaningless and that my soul is far less explicable than I was taught to believe.

One of the greatest mistakes in philosophy and common perception in my opinion has to be the idea of a single conscious being and labeling this existence with a name. That being said, if we all called ourselves how we felt and changed our persona everyday, the earth would be a chaotic place. Rather, what I mean is that the idea that our conscience is a single point is fundamentally flawed. In any case, your thought patterns are entirely due to the influence of genetics and your environment. Instead of a single point, the conscious is a thread in a blanket weaving together the closest of filaments (friends, family, significant others) with the entire living population of humankind. To understand how we are all connected, how society is conscious, how friend groups and families and even our entire race are collectively conscious is the greatest goal of mine and in every work I do I seek to amplify this great truth to those willing to listen.

Rules, laws, religion, and philosophy are simply the pillars of maintaining order and subduing dissent from a productive society. But what if the society has reached its peak? There’s a limit we hit when we still shelter vast numbers of people fending solely for themselves and systematic injustices for smaller fractions of our culture. To truly activate and harness the power of our collective soul we must unify all colors and creeds, the lawful and lawless, the faithful and faithless. We must seek understanding of the fact that if alone and divided, men and women are powerless, meaningless, and blind. But together, together we are something far greater than this earth has ever known. There is no other way for our species to survive if we don’t keep evolving towards a future completely unheard of and untold by science. Our western ways have seen a descent into cultural devolution where countries are pitted against one another for “progress” and on smaller scales the people undergo their power struggles somewhere within the arbitrary pyramid of financial tribulations.

Whatever I am I feel more and more has never belonged in the walls of my brain but out there in the world, on paper, in songs, and on the tongues of those who come after me. Is this purpose worthy enough for them to follow? There’s only one way to find out.

Yours truly,
Hope
(For its conveyor is far less important)
