Part 2
Separation
What good is a broken soul?
You can not pour into a mold
That has more holes each passing day
Or hope, by reaching, that you may
Enact repairs to fill the gap.
Plug one with laughs, one with sap,
Yet not even love, in stick and ooze
Can fix your wish for different rules.
Do you dance along the tune?
Or do you wonder if songs soothe
The shattered hearts of hardened artists
And how to finish what you started?
Do you wonder what could be?
Or did you sacrifice your dreams
And trade them for devout indifference,
Worn, torn, and without forgiveness?
Could the half-empty room
Find its elephant relatively soon?
Or will it wither in perceived incompletion,
Serving as tomb to scattered pieces
Of hope, of dreams so lost in meaning
There's no more soul inside for seeking
What you need, Or what defines you:
Whether chaos inside
Or the reasons you rhyme to.
